Interesting but the tilt and slide is one of the best features of the N97 IMHO. Also the screen is far more responsive than an iPhone if you have acrylic nails. I find on the IPhone you HAVE to use your finger whereas the nails are just perfect for the N97. And we are finally getting lots more apps for the N97 yet you say there are few for the N900 which makes it a loser to me. I would love the bigger keyboard though. Of course the only remaining question for me is does it come in a range of colours? Or do I have to use skins to co-ordinate?

Agreed, I love my N900 but really wish it had some more apps- spotify, a good tweet deck type app, and an instant message app would be brilliant.

thanks for the review!
i knew from the moment the n900 was announced that i wanted one - if only it would work in portrait mode too! i really want to be able to fire off sms messages or do some quick rss browsing without having to slide out the keyboard (for example, when standing in a crowded bus where you rarely have both hands free). i hope that future software updates will fix this. maemo is such a nice platform, and it's getting better and better all the time.

Great review, I enjoyed it. Thanks.

I think you're spot on when you say that the N900 is not an "iPhone killer" but rather a new type of device. And that, as you say, is a good thing. The gadget world needs diversity not lots of companies trying to copy the perceived leader.

In case you're interested, I logged my own thoughts on the N900 and how it represents Nokia's best chance of "getting back in the game" here:
